Areal Flood Warning, Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southwestern Polk County in southwestern Missouri...

* until 900 am CDT Friday

* at 103 am CDT... flooding continued in some portions of
southwestern Polk County due to very heavy rainfall Thursday
evening. More than six inches of rain fell in a short period of
time across the little SAC river basin... and the Turkey
Creek... Walnut Creek... and Coats branch basins. This has caused
flooding of multiple areas in southwestern Polk County.

* Creeks... streams... and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.
Locations in the warning include...

Morrisville... Eudora...

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...

Route W at Turkey Creek just west of Eudora.

This Flood Warning replaces the Flash Flood Warning that was
previously in effect for this area. While additional rainfall is
not expected... residual flooding will likely continue into the
morning hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 615 am CDT Friday
for southwestern Polk County...

At 1121 PM CDT... emergency management reported flash flooding in the
warned area. Three to six inches of rain has already fallen. Flash
flooding is already occurring.

Creeks... streams... and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.

Portions of Highway 215 west of Morrisville is closed due to
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross
swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
